Hibiscus Surf School provides Surf Lessons and Equipment Hire for the enthusiastic beginner, intermediate and advanced surfers.  We also teach any age to surf, surfing is for everyone!

Surf lessons are taught by our friendly, experienced and qualified Surf Instructors.  They have great people skills and understanding – of both Human Nature and Mother Nature. Safety is paramount to us so we only take you out in waves that are appropriate to your confidence and level of surfing.

Whatever your age or surfing level we can help you learn to surf well

At Hibiscus Surf School we take small group surf lessons so you still get the attention you need while learning the art of surfing waves. You will be provided with everything you need to learn to surf, just bring your sense of fun and enthusiasm.

Perhaps you wish to have a one on one customised Private Lesson.  Or you and your friend or child wish to take a mini – private lesson together.  You will  boost your confidence while sharing the fun and strengthening your relationships.  Enjoy the personal attention from our professional and exclusive surf instructors.

We also offer 2, 3 and 5 day Surf Clinics for those wishing to take their surfing to the next level.

After every lesson you will receive a free 1 hour equipment hire to practice your new surfing skills.

Surfboard hire

The Hibiscus Surf Hire Hut is at the Main Beach in the Mount.  We have a large range of Surfboards, body boards, and stand-up paddle boards.

    Hello,

    I am looking to book a beginner surf lessons on Wednesday 26th Feb 2014 for my boyfriend. Is this possible to book from Scotland? Also I have had lessons before but I am still rubbish but is there a possibility to hire a board to mess about on if I decide to go in when we are there?

      Thanks for your message, we’re happy to teach your boyfriend to surf! Yes you can book from overseas. And yes you’re welcome to hire some gear, we’ll also give you a free surf safety refresher & tips before you head out. I’ll email you more details.

    hey i am from wanganui and our geography class are comming to Mount Maunganui to study tourism, could you please tell me your hours and cost we will be travling there from the 8-11th of april? Do you guys still teach during April?

    Hi, do you hire bodyboards and surfboards as my partner and i have had a lesson we just want some practice? What are your opening hours on sat? Do you offer rash vests and wetsuits for hire? Thanks

      Hi Cara,

      Yes, we have 30 surfboards, ranging from 6’6″ to 10’2″, including hard and soft top boards. We also hire bodyboards, full lenghth wetsuits and rash vests. Our opening hours are 9:30-5:30pm most days. The wave and weather forecasts look great for this weekend!

      Look for the RED surf trailer on Main Beach. See you then.
